BoxOffice Brings Hot RENTertainment and a competition this February
February is the month of love and BoxOffice is here to sweep subscribers off their feet with exciting blockbuster films. Get a DStv Explora decoder to immerse yourself and your loved one in the world of side-splitting comedies, thrilling suspense dramas, adrenalin-pumping action flicks and chilling horror movies. DStv Premium subscribers will have the opportunity to select from the wide range of entertaining movies to ensure that they’re constantly updated when it comes to the latest and best films in the world right in the comfort of their own homes.
On February 2 kick-off your at-home film fest on with the bone-chilling horror flick, Annabelle. In this spooky tale starring Alfre Woodard, Annabelle Wallis and Ward Horton, a man named John Form has found the perfect gift for his expectant wife, Mia — a beautiful, rare vintage doll in a pure white wedding dress. But Mia’s delight with Annabelle doesn’t last long. On one horrific night, their home is invaded by members of a satanic cult, who violently attack the couple. Spilled blood and terror are not all they leave behind. The cultists have conjured an entity so malevolent that nothing they did will compare to the sinister conduit to the damned that is now…Annabelle. Keep your comfort-blanket close by because this horror film based on a true story.
Also catch another fallen star, Phillip Seymor Hoffmann is his last leading role in a feature film before his death last year in A Most Wanted Man from the 3rd of February. When an immigrant turns up in Hamburg’s Islamic community, laying claim to his father’s ill-gotten fortune, both German and US security agencies take a close interest: as the clock ticks down and the stakes rise, the race is on to establish this most wanted man’s true identity – oppressed victim or destruction-bent extremist?
After Anabelle, a comedy palate cleanser will come in handy. Enter…The Longest Week to the rescue. Let Jason Bateman amuse you in his role as Conrad, an immature man-child who has spent his life in a chic Manhattan Hotel ever since his parents decided to take a 20-year vacation to Paris, leaving him to be raised by hotel staff at the age of 11. His spoiled life comes to an end when he loses his trust fund as a result of his parents’ divorce and is forced out on the street. The film also stars Olivia Wilde and Billy Crudup and will be available from the 4th of February.
But truth be told, 2014’s most disturbing blood and gore scene award goes to psychological thriller, Gone Girl (also available from 9th of February) starring Ben Afleck and Rosamund Pike whose role recently garnered her a Screen Actors Guild Award, Golden Globe and Oscar nominations in the Best Actress category. Based on a best-selling Gillian Flynn novel by the same name, this story revolves around Nick Dunne who reports that his beautiful wife, Amy, has gone missing on the day of their fifth wedding anniversary. Under pressure from the police and a growing media frenzy, Nick’s portrait of a blissful union begins to crumble, leaving him as a prime suspect. Not one to be missed.
If you feel you’ve gained back your equilibrium enough to watch another film based on a historical figure, then catch Dracula Untold from 09 February. The story chronicles a young prince who, when the lives of his wife and child are put in danger by a bloodthirsty sultan, risks his soul to save them and in the process begins his tragic transformation into the eternally infamous vampire. Expect epic fight scenes and lots of blood and gore.
As if having access to all these hot blockbusters wasn’t exciting enough, BoxOffice will also be running a monthly competition from 1 February to 30 April 2015 where subscribers will stand a chance to win 1 of 5 Smart TVs every month. To qualify for entry, eligible customers will have to rent 3 or more movies and be automatically entered into a lucky draw. Remember, the more you rent, the better your chances.
