Close your eyes and listen to her sing from a distance and you will feel not just the smooth vibes and lyrics of the song but the refreshing power of her voice that draws goose bumps to the spines of your veins.
Following her grow through Stars of the Future till date, I will love us to celebrate her as our GhanaGist Star Of The Week.

Efya is a vocal monster. Yes! She is the Gingam empress who never gives up on the microphone both on stage and in the studio with reference to her performances and audio-visual recorded works.
I watched her perform at the GN Bank Awards earlier this year after other female singers jumped on stage with dancers and backup singers, but she came with a difference. No backup singers and dancers but she stood tall.
Jane Afia Boafowaa Awindor is an April 10th born who hails from Kumasi, Ashanti Region and daughter to Nana Adwoa Awindor, the popular face behind prime time TV show “Greetings from Abroad”.
Undoubtedly won the Best female Vocal Performance category at the Ghana Music Awards festival in four consecutive strings since 2011. Now you see why I label her as a vocal monster.
She is a product of Yaa Asantewaa Secondary School and a graduate of the University of Ghana with a degree in Theatre and music.
Jane emerged as the first runner-up at the maiden edition of Stars of the Future and earned a recording contract with Irene, the winner and they worked to release their first collaborative album “Unveiled”.
On her road to her solo career she changed her stage name from Miss Jane to Efya. Sounds so African and contemporary looking at the way it spelled and also the change of sound and image.
The name Efya was a collective decision with her manager and co-label boss of One Nation Entertainment, Jimmy.
Efya has made the genre (Afro-Neo soul) an attractive genre to add to our music library playlist.
So far has her T.I.N.T (This Is Not The Album) mixtape compilation to her catalogue and working on releasing her official debut album as a solo artiste after the break up with Irene.
She has released singles “Forgetting Me”, “One of Your Own” featuring Bisa Kdei and “Gingam Too Much” off the upcoming “Love Janesis” album.
Many of her fans and music lovers can’t wait to experience the album.Ghanagist.com will in the end unfold the album when it hits the market.
Efya is our GhanaGist Star of the Week. To all her fans help us scream…Gingam!
